Last month I began the story of the ‘old’ and ‘new' quilt I was making for a friend who’s daughter was having a baby. We incorporated pieces of a quilt the Mom had made for the daughter into a ‘new’ quilt for the baby. We didn’t know what sex the baby was so we had to stay pretty neutral - we used white as the background, can’t get any more neutral than that!! After placing the pieces in a heart shape (loosely shaped) around the Koala in the center which is the theme of the nursery, I appliquéd the stars onto the white fabric blocks and assembled the quilt top. As a memento, we embroidered “Always in my heart,️ Mommy” below the Koala panel which represents from Mom to Daughter to Baby. It's so neat to see things passed down from generation to generation with a whole lot of love incorporated.
Using Moulin Rouge E2E Pantograph from Urban Elementz, I was able to do a pretty tight quilting pattern with my QTC5.
Finally finished, it ended up being a queen size quilt - they always seem to get bigger as you go and create and add! Just in time as the baby came the very next week!
Mommy and baby boy are doing great!
